How to block ads on web pages while using Hotspot Shield

1. What is Hotspot Shield?
Hotspot Shield(HSS) is a freeware which ensures anonymous and censor-free internet usage. With HSS you can even access blocked websites. For example: Myspace is blocked in schools and companies. With HSS, anyone can access Myspace, Facebook and Skype. HSS encrypts all communications to and from your computer to protect you from online spying. While advertising supported, HSS is not an invasive adware or pervasive spyware application.

Main advantages of using Hotspot Shield are:

Ensure you are private, secure, and anonymous online!
Hide your IP while you're on-line
Access all content without censorship; bypass firewalls
Protect yourself from snoopers at Wi-Fi hotspots, hotels, airports, corporate offices and ISP hubs.

2. Using Hotspot Shield.

Once Hotspot Shield is installed, it creates an HTML link on your desktop. Double-clicking on it will open the application in your Web browser, and you'll be taken to a page detailing your Connection Status, IP Address, Server Address, Bytes sent and received, and the duration of the connection. Hotspot Shield is ad supported, so you'll get a big banner ad that lives at the top of every Web page. Closing the tab with the app's control panel doesn't disconnect the shield, though: for that, or to reload the control panel, you have to go through the green shield icon that gets loaded into your system tray. Also, there's a 5GB data transfer limit.

3.
Blocking Hotspot Shield Ads

How to block the annoying ads while using Hotspot shield? First you should use Firefox or at least use it when browsing using Hotspot Shield. Then download an add-on called Adblock. No need to configure the aad-on, it just lodges in place and has a solid, constantly-updated subscription to ad definitions. This solution does not work everytime but it?ˉs still very easy to turn the extension on/off via a button in the toolbar.

You can download Adblock extention from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10
